Stuart is the Martin County seat and is also known as the “Sailfish Capital of the World”. A boater’s paradise with the miles of scenic waterways and both fresh and salt water fishing featuring the St. Lucie River, the Indian River, and the inlet to the Atlantic Ocean. Stuart’s charm can be experienced in its quaint downtown with many restaurants, galleries, boutiques, historic theatre and buildings along the boardwalk beside the river.
When it comes to what attracts most people to Florida, Martin County offers its visitors and residents alike some of the finest beaches on the east coast. Officials and residents have worked hand-in-hand to assure access to the Atlantic Ocean, various river parks and Lake Okeechobee.
Halpatiokee Regional Park is the largest park in Martin County with 65 acres of active parkland surrounded by 470 acres of wetland preserve area.
Phipps Park, located along the Okeechobee Waterway, is a 55-acre conservation and campground area.
Sailfish Splash Waterpark’s two-acre recreational “water play” area features a 1,000-foot lazy river, two 40-foot-high water slides, zero-depth entry, a 7,326 square-foot water playground with jets, sprays, slides and a 300-gallon “Dump Bucket.”
